Grow Wild Studios on the Philly Floral Guild Radio Podcast: We were on a podcast, and honestly? It felt like telling our whole story for the first time.

We sat down with Floral Guild Radio to talk about how we accidentally built this studio on purpose and what locally-grown flowers really mean to us.
A few months ago, we sat down with Jennie from Floral Guild Radio at our studio here in Malvern and we're only a little embarrassed to admit that it turned into one of the most fun conversations we've had about why we do what we do.
If you've been following along with Grow Wild for a while, you know pieces of our story. But there's something about sitting down for a proper conversation with someone genuinely curious and asking good questions that makes you find new words for things you've felt for a long time.
How we got here
Liz had been working in a traditional flower shop and quietly bristling at the way things were done imported stems, unsustainable sourcing, a disconnect from the seasons right outside the window. She had a vision for something rooted in the local land and the people around us. The only thing missing was someone to keep the whole thing from falling apart operationally. So she called Tim.
In the episode, we talk honestly about what those early days looked like the leap of faith, what it's actually like to go into business with your sibling, and the moments where we looked at each other and thought: are we really doing this? Spoiler: we really did it.
"We see flowers as a way of telling stories rich, emotional ones. And when those flowers come from down the road, the story gets so much better."
Why local flowers are at the heart of everything
This came up a lot in our conversation, because it's genuinely what drives us. When you work with locally-grown stems, you're not just making beautiful arrangements you're working with flowers that have a place, a season, a grower behind them. That changes the design. It changes the feeling in the room when you bring them in. It changes everything.
We spent a good chunk of the episode on this, and if it's something you care about too whether you're a florist, a flower farmer, or just someone who loves having fresh blooms in the house we think you'll find a lot to connect with.
Come listen with us
The full episode is 58 minutes and honestly it flew by. We talk about community, sustainability, the weird joy of building something from scratch with your family, and a lot more. We'd love for you to give it a listen.

And if you're not already following Floral Guild Radio, it's a really lovely show — the Philadelphia Floral Guild puts it out and every episode is worth your time. Find them at @phillyfloralguild.
As always, thank you for being here and for caring about where your flowers come from. It means the world to us. 🌿
